CRIMEAPPLE performs a gritty set at the Peckham Audio and speaks with unrivalled.hip-hop to answer a couple select questions, read more below.
I first came across CRIMEAPPLE when I was listening through DJ Muggs' series of collaboration albums. His collaboration album with CRIMEAPPLE, Medallo, was a clear highlight for me.
Since then CRIMEAPPLE has released 5 projects: YDFWC?, YDFWC?2, a second collaboration album with DJ Muggs Cartagena, Sancocho and now his new album Jaguar on Palisade 2. Each of the above projects are impressive in their own right, as CRIMEAPPLE has developed quite an individual sound, working Spanish into most of his music.

CRIMEAPPLE went on stage just after 9pm. He performed a short but strong setlist keeping the crowd in the moment the entire way through with help from his DJ, DJ Brown 13. He came back on stage for a quick encore after the performance and ended the evening engaging with his fans, taking pictures and signing autographs.

What was the recording process like for Jaguar on Palisade 2?
Organic - it was put together over the course of a couple of months.
Do you have a favourite track? In terms of what the track means to you and what you are getting across.
The Lord.
What was it like to find out you were going to work with DJ Muggs?
Earth shattering - totally mind blowing.
How did you get that opportunity?
I went on his radio show and met him there. We got along and it grew from there. That was natural, not forced at all. We got working together based off that.
And knowing now that you are one of two rappers DJ Muggs has worked with on a second collaboration project?
Incredible. That's all based off of that relationship.
Finally, what have you found most surprising about the business so far?
How you can be your own business. The business has changed and people can have success off their own back.
